Stash My Cash is a savings success story.

Congratulations to our members for achieving over $200,000 in savings!
It's been one year since Jovia members started saving money in their virtual change jars, and boy, have the savings added up.
Not enrolled in Stash My Cash? It's easy!
You can activate Stash My Cash with our quick online form. Once you enroll, you can grow your savings every time you use your Jovia debit card. With Stash My Cash, we round up the change from each debit card purchase and "stash" it into your preferred account. You'll save every time you spend. Everyday purchases like gas, groceries, or take-out will automatically drop spare change into your selected account.

So, for example, if you spend $198.49 at the grocery store, we’ll round your purchase to $199.00 and transfer 51 cents to your selected checking or savings account, just like a virtual change jar.
Enroll in Stash My Cash today and start your own savings success story.

Tips for safe payments with Zelle

Zelle® or similar P2P payment services are an easy and convenient way to send money to friends, family, neighbors, your trainer, or the babysitter. Since using Zelle is just like sending cash, we recommend following these simple tips to keep your money safe.
Only transfer money to people you know and trust
Thinking about making an online purchase? If you purchase items from a bidding or resale site like eBay or Poshmark, you should not use Zelle for these high-risk transactions. There is no payment protection for purchases made using Zelle. A credit card dedicated to online transactions with purchase protection would be a safer option.
Make sure the recipient's contact information is correct
If you mistype a recipient’s email address, phone number or name, the money you send could go to the wrong person. Double-check the accuracy of your recipient’s information before you finalize the money transfer.
Confirm payment is in your account
If your business accepts Zelle payments from people you don't know — for those scrumptious sweet treats, for example —  make sure you received payment into your account before sending that custom cake out for delivery.
Don't share personal or financial information unless you initiated the contact
A number of phishing schemes use Zelle to get unsuspecting victims to share personal or financial information in order to gain access to their bank accounts. Scammers send a fake text message, email or even call by phone appearing to be from the target’s credit union or bank warning about a suspicious Zelle transfer. Unsuspecting victims who fall for this scheme unknowingly give access to their Zelle accounts and allow the scammer access to transfer money out of their account. Keep your personal information private. Do not respond to these threats, do not share Zelle authentication passcodes, and contact your financial institution directly if you receive any threats that your accounts may have been compromised.
Activate account alerts and multi-factor authentication
It will be much easier to notice unauthorized transactions and make it harder for fraudsters to gain access to your accounts if you set up extra layers of security.

Events can be both good and bad depending on the consequences and your point of view. A sudden rainstorm on a Saturday afternoon can ruin your plans for a picnic or a trip to the beach. That same storm might save a farmer's crops from a time of drought. Some inflation is good, too much inflation is painful to most people.

What is a HELOC?

HELOC is an acronym that stands for “home equity line of credit.” If your home is worth more than you owe on it, you can use that equity in a line of credit with good interest rates and maybe even tax benefits.

Jo from Jovia helps explain the benefits of a HELOC and what you can use it for. We'll give you a hint: practically anything from home renovation to debt consolidation.

Jovia hosts financial literacy sessions at California Avenue Elementary School.
Jovia’s Business and Community Development Specialists hosted a series of fun and interactive financial literacy sessions with the fantastic 4th and 5th graders of California Avenue Elementary School in Uniondale.

The sessions included topics such as:
  • What is a checking/savings account
  • Different ways to access your money
  • What is interest, and how is interest earned
  • Cyber security
  • Income and expenses and the different ways to earn income
  • Budgeting and how to create and manage a budget
Students were asked to balance a budget for a fictional trip to Philadelphia. Income earned through chores, birthday money, etc., would be used to save for the trip. Expenses were calculated for transportation, food, souvenirs, and the purchase of a new video game. While doing the activity, the students realized that they were over on their budget and needed to adjust their spending. Some opted not to purchase a video game or souvenirs and adjusted their spending on meals. A key takeaway from each session was the importance of creating, maintaining, and sticking to a budget and the importance of saving.

We look forward to growing our partnership with the Uniondale school district to bring financial literacy to all grade levels.
